إيقاف الدعم لنظام Windows 7 الذي يبلغ من العمر حوالي 9 سنوات يعني أنه لن يحصل اعتباراً من اليوم على أية ميزات جديدة أو تغييرات في التصميم ولا على دعم مباشر عبر الانترنت ولن يتمكن أيضاً مستخدموه من الاتصال المجاني بالشركة بخصوصه، بكل الأحول وحسب قرار مسبق أيضاً من مايكروسوفت فإن نظام Windows 7 سيستمر بالحصول على التحديثات الخاصة
بالأمن والحماية لمدة 5 سنوات إضافية أي حتى يوم الرابع عشر من يناير عام 2020.
